Renewing the Rivalry
The Syracuse-Boston College series is the fifth most frequent in Syracuse history, dating back to 1924. The teams met annually from 1969-2004, including BIG EAST play from 1990-2004 before the Eagles changed conference affiliation to the ACC. In the last meeting between the teams, the Orange beat BC, 43-17, in Chestnut Hill.
Syracuse leads the all-time series against Boston College, 28-17, including an 18-5 record in games played in Syracuse and a 10-2 record in the Carrier Dome. SU won the last game between the schools in the Dome, 39-14, in 2003.
The Fun Begins on the Quad on Game Day
The festivities Saturday morning begin at the Family Fun Zone on the quad at 9:00 a.m. Adjacent to the Dome, the Family Fun Zone will feature the Syracuse marching band, cheerleaders, dance team and Otto the Orange. There will be jumpies and face painting for children as well as food available for purchase.
Parking
Pay parking for the SU Football game will be at the Skytop Lot ($10.00 per car). Please note all campus and West Campus Lots near the dome are reserved for permit holders only.
Complete Game Coverage
Fans can listen to the game on the Syracuse Sports Network (TK-99.5 FM in Syracuse) and Orange All Access. For game highlights, Head Coach Doug Marrone's postgame press conference and student-athlete interviews, sign on to Orange All-Access following the game.
Orange Defense Among Nation's Best
The SU defense is the sixth-rated defense in the FBS this season, allowing just 293.2 yard per game. That number is the best for an Orange defense since 1997 (297.1 yards per game). Defensive coordinator Scott Shafer has proven he can make defenses better, in addition to the improvement at Syracuse, his 2007 Stanford defense improved in every category from the previous season.
Carter Hits 1,000 yards and Climbs Career Rushing List
Senior Delone Carter surpassed the 1,000-yard mark for the second time in his career when he gained 67 yards on 19 carries in the BIG EAST finale against Connecticut. He has 1,005 yards in 11 games this season after gaining 1,021 in 2009. His 91.36 rushing yards per game ranks 31st nationally. Carter's 2,876 career rushing yards ranks fourth in Syracuse history behind Joe Morris (4,299 yards), Walter Reyes (3,424 yards) and Larry Csonka (2,934).
Krautman Eyes School Record with 15th Consecutive Field Goal
Freshman Ross Krautman is one field goal shy of the SU record for consecutive field goals made with a streak of 15. Gary Anderson hit 16 in a row in 1981 and finished the season with 18 made. Krautman is third nationally and leads the BIG EAST with a 94.4 field goal percentage.
Bowl Eligiblity
With its seventh victory of the season at Rutgers, Syracuse will return to postseason play for the first time since 2004. Syracuse had to achieve seven victories for the bowl berth because it has two FCS opponents on the schedule. The Orange has a 12-9-1 record in Bowl games. SU played in bowl games in six consecutive seasons from 1987 through 1992 and won eight straight bowl games from 1987 through 1996.
