
Orange Visits Buffalo for Mid-Week Match

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange volleyball team looks to extend its three-game winning streak on Tuesday, September 15 when it visits Buffalo for a 7 p.m. matchup at Alumni Arena. Syracuse brings a 7-2 record into Tuesday's game, marking the best season start since 2004 when the team opened with nine-straight wins.
Last Time Out: Rhode Island Tournament
Syracuse captured its second tournament championship of the season last weekend, defeating Brown, 3-0, Rhode Island, 3-1, and New Hampshire, 3-0 at the Rhode Island Tournament. Senior middle blocker Sarah Morton was named the tournament MVP, her second such honor of the season, after leading the Orange with 34 kills, a .608 hitting percentage and 15 total blocks. Senior outside hitter Kacie MacTavish and freshman setter Laura Homann also earned Rhode Island all-tournament team honors. MacTavish had 33 kills and 31 digs while Homann dished out 87 assists through the three matches.

Syracuse-Buffalo Series
Syracuse holds a 18-3 advantage in the all-time series with Buffalo, which dates back to 1975. The two teams last met on Aug. 28 in Syracuse, N.Y., with the Orange emerging victorious, 3-0 (30-18, 30-24, 30-21). In that most recent meeting MacTavish led the team with a .391 hitting percentage while contributing 10 kills helping SU take a 50-26 advantage in that category.
Scouting the Bulls
Buffalo is 6-3 on the young season and brings a four-match win streak into Tuesday night's game. With six wins on the season, UB has already tied its 2008 win total. Senior middle blocker Dani Silvers is the breakout player for the Bulls, leading the offense with 121 kills while junior Marisa Hornbaker ranks second with 66. Junior setter Lindsey Schlegel leads the team with 294 assists, averaging 9.80 assists per game and has a team-best 16 service aces. Rookie libero Tori Beckman leads the Bulls defensive effort with 136 digs while junior middle blocker Kristin Bignell is the leader at the net with 26 total blocks.
