Senior quarterback R.J. Anderson completed seven of 18 passes for 49 yards. He scored SU's only offensive touchdown of the game on a two-yard rush in the second quarter. Anderson threw his first interception since the first quarter of the 2002 West Virginia game, snapping his school-record streak at 178 pass attempts without a pick.

Panther punter Andy Lee dropped the snap and Gregory picked up the ball and ran it into the endzone for his first career touchdown. It marked the first time an SU player returned a fumble for a touchdown since Quentin Harris scored a 91-yard touchdown on a fumble recovery against Buffalo in 2000.
On the Panthers next drive, Pittsburgh receiver Larry Fitzgerald caught three passes for 51 yards, including a three-yard touchdown reception to tie the game, 7-7.
