Syracuse Game Notes
November 8, 2003
Carrier Dome • Syracuse, N.Y.
The Orangemen wore all orange uniforms for the first time since facing Temple at the Carrier Dome on October 20, 2001. SU won that game, 45-3. SU last wore orange jerseys regularly in 1976 and all orange uniforms in 1958.
Johnnie Morant's catch on SU's first play from scrimmage marked the 25th consecutive game in which Morant has had at least one reception.
R.J. Anderson's eight-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter was his fifth of the season, tying his career high set in 2001. Including his passing touchdown, Anderson has now been responsible for 32 touchdowns (running or passing) in his career, tied for the eighth most in school history with Walter Reyes. Ernie Davis is in seventh place with 35.
Anderson has now thrown 19 career touchdown passes, tying him with Pat Stark and Bill Hurley for sixth place on the Syracuse career list. He has now run for and thrown for a touchdown in the same game three times this season (Toledo, BC, Temple) and seven times in his career.
Rahsard Williams' 43-yard reception in the second quarter was the longest of his career.
Walter Reyes ran for 93 yards to move into the Syracuse all-time top 10 in rushing. Reys now has 2,240 career yards, passing Jaime Covington.
Reyes' four-yard touchdown run in the third quarter was his 14th of the season, moving him him into a second-place tie with Floyld Little (1965) and James Mungro (2001) on the SU single-season list. Reyes is still in second place on the SU career rushing touchdown ledger with 32 and is now in third on the SU career total touchdown list, passing Mungro.
Reyes' second touchdown of the game was the 21st of his career in the Carrier Dome, breaking James Mungro's school record for the most dome rushing scores.
