A two-time national champion as an assistant coach in junior college, Ryan Brooks-Newton joined the Syracuse staff as the program’s director of operations in 2013. Brooks-Newton is responsible for assisting the coaching staff with film exchange, travel, and other duties.
Brooks-Newton previously served as an assistant coach at Herkimer County Community College (HCCC) where he helped guide the Generals to NJCAA national championships in 2008 and 2011.
A Selkirk, N.Y. native, Brooks-Newton was a goalkeeper for two seasons at HCCC before joining the coaching staff. With Brooks-Newton between the posts, the Generals won the 2005 NJCAA national championship and reached the national final in 2006. He was an All-Mountain Valley Conference First Team selection and earned NJCAA Region III All-Star and All-Tournament honors. Brooks-Newton was also selected to the NJCAA All-Tournament Team in 2005 and concluded his junior-college career second in the NJCAA record books in career shutouts.
Brooks-Newton played one season of Division II soccer at the University of Bridgeport in 2007 before capping his college career at American International College (AIC) in 2009.
After his collegiate playing days ended, Brooks-Newton spent three years with the Vermont Voltage of the USL Premier Development League. He currently plays professionally for the Syracuse Silver Knights of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL).
Brooks-Newton received a bachelor’s degree in history from American International in 2010.
