Phil Boerger

After starting every game in goal last year for Syracuse, Phil Boerger returns to the Orange in 2012 as an undergraduate assistant coach.
Boerger was a goalkeeper at Syracuse for one season. Prior to joining the Orange, he played three years at Evansville where he earned All-Missouri Valley Conference Honorable Mention honors as a sophomore.
At Syracuse, Boerger was one of three players on the Orange roster to start every match in 2011 and he ranked fourth in the BIG EAST with 76 saves. He was also named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week and to the CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performers of the Week Honor Roll after his seven-save shutout helped the Orange to a draw against No. 11 Louisville.
The Jamestown, N.D. native starred for five seasons at Jamestown High School where he was named to the 2007 Parade Magazine High School All-America Team. Boerger was also a member of the United States U-15 and U-17 national team pools, and participated in the Adidas Elite Soccer Program in 2006 and 2007.
He is currently pursuing a degree in sociology at SU.
