Susie Mehringer joined the Athletic Communications staff in August 1994. She has worked with numerous teams in her tenure, but enters her second in assisting with the Orange football program in 2022. She also works with the Orange’s nationally ranked women’s lacrosse program.
From 1994 through 1999, Mehringer handled the day-to-day public and media relations for seven Olympic sports, including travelling with and working closely with the women’s basketball program. She wrote and edited media guides, weekly releases, newsletters and game programs. Syracuse’s 1995-96 and 1996-97 women’s tennis media guide, which she wrote and edited, were voted “Best in the District” by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
In 12 years at Syracuse, Mehringer has served as the media coordinator for The BIGEAST Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, the ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championships,the Eastern Intercollegiate Gymnastics League (EIGL) Championships, the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association and the NCAA East Regional Women’s Tennis Championships. She was the assistant media coordinator for the 2000, 2002 and 2005 NCAA Men’s Basketball East Regional Championships held in the Carrier Dome.
Prior to coming to Syracuse, Mehringer served as an assistant in the sports information office at the University of Evansville. She was the primary contact for baseball, women’s basketball, soccer and volleyball. She wrote and edited media guides and game programs and assisted with the other non-revenue sports.
A 1992 graduate of Ball State with degrees in public relations and sport administration and a minor in business, Mehringer worked for one year in the Cardinals sports information office. She also was a communications intern for the Amateur Athletic Union. She resides in Syracuse.
