Myles White, a rising star in the coaching ranks, with experience coaching both at the NFL and collegiate levels, has been hired as Syracuse’s passing game coordinator/wide receivers coach, Head Coach Fran Brown announced.
White brings a wealth of experience to Syracuse. In addition to spending the 2024 season on the Green Bay Packers staff, White has collegiate coaching stops at Miami (Ohio), Stephen F. Austin and at SMU, following a six-year professional career as a player.
“I’m really honored and excited to coach at Syracuse University,” White said. “I always felt like this University was a trailblazer in football, going back to the days of Ernie Davis and Jim Brown. I think that direction has continued under Coach Fran and it’s exciting as a young coach to be part of the direction of this program.”
White joined the Packers staff as an offensive assistant, where the franchise went on to reach the NFL Playoffs in 2024.
“Myles White stood out from all the candidates we had because he has everything we were looking for,” Brown said. “From being a good father and husband to on the football field. Not only was he an expert in being able to teach and let us know what he would do for players and show how he has helped guys in their career, but he’s also done it himself. Being an NFL player and coach is rare and I’m extremely thankful that he is part of our staff.”
White’s last collegiate experience came at Miami (Ohio) from 2022-23, where he served as the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach and led the team to back-to-back bowl appearances. In his second year with the RedHawks, he revamped the wide receiving corps and coached Gage Larvadain to lead the MAC in yards per reception (16.2), was third in yards (679) and second in touchdowns (6), despite playing in just 10 games. Miami went 11-3 in 2023, earning a berth in the New Mexico Bowl.
In his first season with the program, White mentored Mac Hippenhammer to earn Second Team All-MAC accolades after catching 54 passes for 769 yards and scoring nine touchdowns, before going on to earn a camp invite for the Cincinnati Bengals.
White spent the 2021 campaign at Stephen F. Austin, helping lead the team to their best season in a decade, advancing to the NCAA Playoffs. Xavier Gipson starred under White’s coaching, earning Associated Press First Team All-America honors after catching 74 passes for 1,367 yards and 14 touchdowns.
His first job In coaching came at SMU, where he spent the 2019-20 seasons as a quality control coach. The Mustangs ranked in the top-13 in total offense nationally in both seasons with the program, including fourth in 2019. Wide receiver James Proche was selected in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft after White’s first season. He also worked with a pair of Super Bowl Champions in his time at SMU, including Kansas City Chiefs wideout Rashee Rice and Philadelphia Eagles receiver Danny Gray.
White got into coaching after a six-year professional career. He spent two seasons with the Packers (2013-14) to start his career, before spending the 2015 season with the New York Giants. White appeared in 19 games over his first three seasons in the league, with 16 catches for 154 yards and a touchdown.
“David Tyree, a great former player here, talked very highly about him from their time together with the Giants. He talked about how cool they were from when they played together, so that meant a lot,” Brown added.
White began the 2016 season with the New York Jets, before being signed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers roster to conclude the season. White returned to the Jets for the 2017 campaign, before transitioning to the CFL, where he played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Toronto Argonauts.
He began his collegiate career at Michigan State before transferring to Louisiana Tech (2011-12), where he earned all-conference honors. He graduated with a degree in sociology in 2012. He and his wife, Briana, have five children: Mychael, Hendryxx, Sylas and Pressley and Collyns.
