Kevin Coyle returns to Syracuse as a senior analyst in 2025 He previously served as the Orange’s defensive coordinator from 1991-93.
Coyle spent the past three seasons at Fresno State where he served as the defensive coordinator from 2022-24. The Bulldogs ranked third in the Mountain West in total defense and fourth in scoring defense in 2024, helping Fresno State to an appearance in the Idaho Potato Bowl. It marked Coyle’s second stint with the Bulldogs. He also served as the defensive coordinator from 1997-2000.
Prior to his return to Fresno State, Coyle worked as a defensive analyst at LSU in 2016-17 as well as 2019-21. His duties included analyzing and breaking down some of the top offenses in the nation. In between his two stints with the Tigers, Coyle served as the defensive coordinator for the Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football.
As the Orange’s defensive coordinator for three seasons, Coyle guided a unit that led the nation in interceptions with 24 in 1992. That same season, Syracuse allowed just 1007 yards rushing in 11 games, which ranked fifth nationally.
In addition, Coyle served on the coaching staffs at Maryland, Holy Cross, U.S. Merchant Marine, Arkansas and Cincinnati. He also has experience in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals and Miami Dolphins, serving as the defensive coordinator from 2012-15.
