Pittsburgh Head Coach Paul Chryst Quotes
Opening statement:
“Obviously I tip my hat to Syracuse. They made more plays and won the game. I thought it was an official game, the guys on both teams laid it out there, and you appreciate that. Obviously the first half, the fumble turned for a touchdown we did enough stuff to beat ourselves in many ways. I thought going in Syracuse is a good team and I come away believing the same thing. They are very well coached and the kids played hard and I thought both sides, competed, competed, competed.”
On whether it was frustrating falling back by a couple touchdowns:
“We did a great job of punting and pinning them down. Then you have a guy that’s not lined up on the line. That’s all he does is line up on the line so it comes back. I feel like guys defensively battled their tails off. Offensively, I loved their efforts and I loved the way they played. You look back at that and there are moments when you can win that game. And that’s what we need to get to in order to win the next game.”
On whether the game plan changed offensively :
“We certainly didn’t want to abandon it. We felt like we could get some things. You change it, you figure out ways you can do it and I felt like they did a heck of a job playing the run. I feel like we did too many things to hurt ourselves. I say that but I give them credit too, they did some good stuff.”
On Tino Sunseri’s performance:
“You appreciate that. And that’s what he should do. That’s what a quarterback at this level should do. I thought he did a lot of good things and there’s a lot we can clean up. You can appreciate the way all the guys are going out and throwing it in there.”
On Syracuse:
“I think certainly I have a lot of respect for Doug (Marrone) and what they are doing, and how they are playing the game. I mean we are going to play them again.”
