TEAM NOTES
- Syracuse finished the season 4-3 in the BIG EAST Conference. It’s the most conference wins for the Orange since 2004 when the team went 4-2 in the league.
- It was the first time this season the Orange lost when holding its opponent to less than 300 yards of total offense. Syracuse surrendered 254 total yards to the Huskies and is now 6-1 on the year when keeping its opponent under 300 total yards.
- The Orange had its streak of consecutive red-zone trips in which it came away with points stopped in the fourth quarter. Syracuse had scored points on 15 straight red-zone trips dating back to the Pittsburgh game on Oct. 16 before coming up empty on its final offensive drive versus Connecticut.
- Syracuse recovered one fumble against Connecticut. It was the fifth straight game the Orange registered at least one takeaway.
- Snapper Max Leo was the team’s game captain against Connecticut. He joined season captains Rob Long, Ryan Bartholomew and Derrell Smith at midfield for the opening coin toss.
- Receiver Marcus Sales made his second straight start in place of the injured Alec Lemon. Nose tackle Anthony Perkins also received his second consecutive starting nod in place of the injured Bud Tribbey.
- Attendance for the game was 41,465. It was the largest home crowd for the Orange this season.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- Running back Delone Carter gained 67 yards on 19 carries to go over 1,000 yards for the season (1,005 yards). It’s the second straight 1,000-yard season for Carter and the 14th time in school history an Orange back has rushed for at least 1,000 yards. Carter also passed James Mungro (2,869 yards) for fourth on SU's all-time rushing list and now has 2,876 yards.
- Carter has a current streak of 209 carries without losing a fumble dating back to the 2009 season finale at Connecticut.
- Carter had a season-long 16-yard reception in the first quarter Saturday against the Huskies.
- Quarterback Ryan Nassib was 20-for-36 through the air for 171 yards in the game. Nassib moved into third on SU’s season record list for completions (174). In addition, he vaulted into ninth on the Orange’s career completions ledger (210).
- Nassib has a school-record 313 passing attempts this season breaking the previous record of 310 established by R.J. Anderson in 2003.
- Nassib completed passes to a season-best nine different receivers (including himself) against the Huskies.
- Tight end Nick Provo had one reception for 22 yards. It was his 30th catch of the season to move into a tie for second with Tony Gabriel (1969) and Tom Ferron (2006) on SU’s season record list for most catches by a tight end.
- Provo ranks ninth on Syracuse’s season list for receiving yards by a tight end with 344 yards in 2010.
- Kicker Ross Krautman connected on field goals of 42 and 35 yards to extend his streak of consecutive made field goals to 15. The streak dates back to the Washington game on Sept. 11. Krautman is a perfect 12-for-12 from inside 40 yards this season.
- Krautman is now tied with Don McAulay (1985) and John Biskup (1991) for second on the Orange’s season record list for made field goals with 17 in 2010.
- Krautman has 77 points this season, the most for an SU player since 2003 when Walter Reyes had 128.
- Running back Prince-Tyson Gulley caught the first pass of his career in the opening quarter. It went for four yards.
- Receiver Dorian Graham gained 11 yards on the first rushing attempt of his career in the second quarter.
- Defensive end Brandon Sharpe forced his first fumble of the season on a punt return in the third quarter. Linebacker Derrell Smith made the recovery, his third fumble recovery of 2010.
- Punter Rob Long went over 11,000 punting yards for his career in the game. Long (11,109 yards) is one of two Orange punters to reach the 11,000-yard plateau joining Brendan Carney (11,534 yards).
- Linebacker Marquis Spruill registered a career-best two tackles for a loss of nine yards in the contest.
- Receiver Marcus Sales made a season-high six receptions for 57 yards.
- Running back Antwon Bailey caught four passes for 24 yards. He now ranks seventh on the team’s season record list for receiving yards by a running back (452 yards).
