Wide receiver Mike Williams had a career-high 13 receptions for 186 yards and two touchdowns against the Bulls …Williams extended his consecutive games with a catch streak to 25 with his first reception … The consecutive games with a catch mark ranks fourth on the SU record list … Williams is also SU’s career leader in consecutive games with a touchdown catch, having scored in 11 straight … Williams’ two touchdown catches also matched a career-high and put him in sole possession of third-place on the Syracuse career list for most receiving touchdowns with 19.
Syracuse’s 20 points is the most the Orange has scored against South Florida in the five meetings between the two teams.
Senior running back Delone Carter rushed for 43 yards on 13 carries … Carter moved into 35th on the SU career rushing yards ledger with 1,177 yards.
Junior tight end Cody Catalina had a career-best three receptions for 13 yards against South Florida, marking his fourth-consecutive game with a catch.
Sophomore running back Antwon Bailey had a career-long 16-yard reception in the first quarter … Bailey had a career-best 27 yards receiving on three catches and has recorded a reception in every game this season.
The Syracuse defense forced turnovers on South Florida’s first two possessions … Senior defensive tackle Arthur Jones recovered both fumbles … The first fumble was the result of a bad USF snap … Defensive back Mike Holmes forced the second fumble … Jones is the first SU defenseman to recover two fumbles in a game since Ben Maljovec had a pair of fumble recoveries at Louisville in 2007.
Senior linebacker Derrell Smith forced his team-leading third fumble of the season late in the second quarter on USF’s 11-yard line to give Syracuse field position for its first touchdown of the game … Junior safety Max Suter recovered the fumble.
Graduate student quarterback Greg Paulus threw for 269 yards on 25 for 46 with two touchdowns … Paulus’ two touchdown passes matched a career-high while his 25 completions and 46 attempts also set a career standards … He also set career-bests in rushing attempts (9) and longest rush (11 yards).
Kicker Ryan Lichtenstein converted two first-half field goal attempts, from 40-yards and 24-yards … Lichtenstein leads the BIG EAST with a .900 field goal percentage.
Junior Da’Mon Merkerson took his first snaps at corner this season in the third quarter … Merkerson moved to corner from wide receiver in the week prior to the game … He had two tackles against the Bulls.
