Steve Gregory and Kurt Falke joined Steve Franklin and James Wyche as captains for today’s game.
Damien Rhodes’ 21 all-purpose yards moves him to eighth all-time at SU (243 for his career). His 72 rushing yards increases his career total to 2,120, which ranks 14th in SU history. He moved up to second in receiving yards by a running back with two receptions for nine yards (586 yards on 53 receptions).
Perry Patterson completed 13-of-24 passes for 167 yards. He has 2,728 career passing yards, which ranks seventh at SU, and 443 career pass attempts, which is eighth in SU history.
Rutgers is the first SU opponent to return a blocked a punt for a touchdown since 2000 when East Carolina. The score gave Rutgers a 10-0 lead.
Kareem Jones had a career-ling 48 yard kickoff return.
Anthony Smith had two interceptions in the second quarter on back-to-back defensive series, increasing his career total to 12, which ties for fourth on SU’s career record list.
Rice Moss caught a career-long 21-yard pass and tied his career-best with three receptions.
Joe Fields tied his career long on a 14-yard rush in his first game at the Dome this season.
Nicholas Chestnut has a career-best two receptions for 18 yards.
Tim Lane had a career-high 66 yards on a career-best four receptions.
John Barker made a career-best three field goals, including a career-long 45-yard field goal, and attempted a career-high four.
