Syracuse Post-Game Notes
Syracuse vs. Pittsburgh
November 6, 2004
Walter Reyes’s one-yard touchdown run in the first quarter was the 46th score of his career. He is now tied with Floyd Little for first on the Orange’s career list. Reyes owns the school-record for rushing touchdowns with 45.
Reyes moved past Little on the Orange’s all-time scoring list as well. He has 280 career points, third overall in school history and first among non-kickers. Nate Trout owns the scoring mark with 334 points from 1996-99.
Reyes reached the 100-yard rushing mark in the first half for the second straight game. Reyes now has 14 100-yard games, the third most in school history. It was his school-record 11th 100-yard game in the Carrier Dome. Larry Csonka is second all-time at SU with 15 and Joe Morris holds the record with 22.
Junior Damien Rhodes had his second career 100-yard rushing game with 103 yards. It is the second time this season that the Orange has had two 100-yard rushers in the same game (Reyes and Rhodes versus Rutgers).
Kurt Falke entered the game in the first quarter as an extra tight end on SU’s first goal-line situation.
After not recording a sack in the first 34 games of his career, Julian Pollard has one in each of the last two games.
Jared Jones’ 56-yard catch in the first quarter was the longest of his career. He topped that in the second quarter with a 60-yard touchdown catch. Jones racked up 136 yards on four catches. It was the first 100-yard game of his career and the first for an SU receiver since Johnnie Morant had 103 last season against Notre Dame.
Jones increased his career receiving yardage total to 1,042. He is the 16th Orange player to reach the 1,000-yard mark.
Breyone Evans’ second-quarter touchdown catch was the first of his career. It was his second touchdown in as many weeks after a 22-yard rushing score versus Connecticut.
Joe Fields’ touchdown pass to Jared Jones in the second quarter was the first of his career. It was his first pass attempt since the Cincinnati game.
Rice Moss made his first career catch in the fourth quarter, a 15-yard reception that gave SU a first down.
Ryan LaCasse had a career-high two sacks.
Perry Patterson’s touchdown run in overtime was the first rushing touchdown of his career.
Syracuse is now 4-3 all-time in overtime and 2-0 against Pittsburgh in OT (Oct. 7, 2000; 24-17, 2OT). The Orange has won three straight overtime games and is 4-1 in games that go at least two overtimes.
