Landel Bembo’s 32-yard run in the first quarter was his first career rushing attempt.
Collin Barber’s 44-yard field goal on Syracuse’s opening drive extended his streak of home games with at least one field goal to nine. Barber’s 37-yard miss in the third quarter was his first miss from inside 40 yards this season and just his second miss from 39-or-closer in his last 16 attempts.
Cornerback Tanard Jackson was back in the starting lineup after missing the Rutgers game. He made five tackles in the game.
Jared Jones’ 44-yard touchdown catch to end the first quarter was the longest catch of his career. It was also his first touchdown reception since the Central Florida game in 2002 and the first scoring pass to a wide receiver this season (Damien Rhodes and Greg Hanoian caught the first two of the season.).
Brendan Carney’s 65-yard punt in the second quarter was the longest of his career. Carney finished the game with 281 yards on six punts (46.8 average). He now ranks 10th at SU in career punting yardage with 4,016.
Diamond Ferri’s 30-yard fumble return in the second quarter was the longest of his career. It was his second fumble recovery of the season and third of his career. Ferri also forced the fumble, the first of his career. Ferri had a career-high 44-yard interception return in the third quarter. It was his second interception of the season, both of which were returned for more than 40 yards (43 vs. Cincinnati).
Tight end Joe Kowalewski has caught at least one pass in a career-high four straight games.
Defensive tackle Chris Thorner’s takedown of Leon Washington for a two-yard loss in the third quarter was his first career tackle behind the line of scrimmage.
Walter Reyes caught a career-high six passes for 51 yards, increasing his career receiving numbers to 56 catches and 529 yards. Reyes ranks third all-time among SU running backs in both categories. He is only the third Orange back to crack the 500 receiving yard plateau (Duane Kinnon, 629; Floyd Little, 582).
Sophomore linebacker Luke Cain made a career-high nine tackles.
Syracuse has now lost 17 straight games when rushing for less than 100 yards.
