Volleyball Continues 2026 Season in Syracuse Invitational

The Syracuse volleyball team continues its 2026 season in the Syracuse Invitational facing off against FDU on Fri., Sept.18 at 6 p.m. and Buffalo on Sun., Sept.20 at 1p.m.

- Syracuse Volleyball will continue its season in the Syracuse Invitational against FDU and Buffalo.
- The Orange got rolling in its non-conference schedule in 2025, starting 8-2 on the year. The Orange also won all three tournaments that they competed in during the non-conference slate.
- Syracuse will play a nine-match slate of non-conference matches before rolling into ACC-play during late September.
- Kiernan Stamey entered the Power-Four level after two seasons at Kennesaw State and has not looked back.
- Stamey leads the Orange with 81 kills and 3.38 kills per set.
- The junior has also shown her defensive prowess, ranking second on the team in digs (51) and blocks (14.0).
- Freshman Setter Charis Burge has had an impressive start to her collegiate career so far for the Orange.
- In her first collegiate weekend against Cincinnati and Illinois, Burge tallied 25 assists against the Bearcats, followed by 24 assists against Illinois.
- Burge followed up the opening-weekend performance with three consecutive 20-plus assist matches in the Cornell Invite, with 22 and 25 assists respectively in sweeps over Howard and UAlbany, and 50 assists in a five-set win over the hosts, Cornell.
- Burge was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Cornell Invite.
- In her seven career matches at the collegiate level, Burge has tallied 206 assists and 8.58 assists per set.
- During the 2026 season, Syracuse Volleyball will represent nine states and three countries outside the U.S., with five international players.
- From overseas, the Orange bring in Emma Faerber and Mira Ledermueller (Germany), Aileen McAllister and Yuka Urano (Japan) and Bo Nijenhuis (Netherlands).
- Of the nine U.S. states represented, only two pairs of players share a home state, Keila Gabriel and Sophie Vienna (California) and Queen Howse and Kiernan Stamey (Tennessee).
- The Orange have defeated FDU in all four matches in their short history.
- Syracuse has not played FDU since 2004, a straight set victory for the Orange.
- Mila Samardzija leads the Knights with 83 kills and 2.59 kills per set while Isabella Scarfone facilitates the offense with 146 assists on the year (4.56 per set).
- Syracuse owns an 18-3 record against Buffalo all-time, including a perfect 14-0 at home.
- Buffalo ended last season with a 9-18 record (6-12 conference).
- The Bulls are led by Manoela Forlin, who has notched 99 kills and 3.19 kills per set while Maddie Mitchell leads Buffalo on the defensive end with 2.71 digs per set.
