Syracuse (1-1-0) dropped a 3-2 decision to New Hampshire (1-1-0) on Saturday afternoon at SU Soccer Stadium, battling back from an early deficit before falling in the final stretch.
The Orange held firm defensively through the opening 45 minutes, keeping the match scoreless at the break despite an early red card in the 10th minute gave the Wildcats an advantage in numbers. New Hampshire broke through first, taking a 1-0 lead in the 53rd minute.
Syracuse answered with an offensive burst of its own to take a 2-1 lead. Kristjan Fortier converted from the penalty spot in the 70th minute to level the score at 1-1, and Jordan Grey put the Orange ahead two minutes later off a feed from Dario White and Kameron Kist.
New Hampshire responded down the stretch, tying the match at 2-2 in the 80th minute before Laurin Preuss scored the eventual game-winner two minutes later, lifting the Wildcats to a 3-2 victory.
Syracuse returns home to SU Soccer Stadium to face Loyola on Friday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. Admission to all regular season home matches at the SU Soccer Stadium is free.Â
