Bryant Placed on Butkus Watch List

Linebacker Gary Bryant III is on the initial Butkus Award Watch List, presented annually to the nation's top linebacker.
Bryant tied for the team lead in tackles last season (60) adding 4.0 tackles for loss and a sack on the season. He returns to a Syracuse linebacking corps that should be one of the most talented in recent memory, headlined by Freshman All-American Antoine Deslauriers, impact transfer Chris D'Appolonia and others.
Bryant, a former FCS All-American at South Dakota before transferring to Syracuse after the 2024 season, was a starter in his first season with the Orange.
Bryant is the fourth member of the Orange to be named to a preseason watch list in as many days, joining Chris Peal (Jim Thorpe Award), Demetres Samuel Jr. (Paul Hornung Award) and Cornell Perry (Wuerffel Trophy).
