Orange Slate Mercyhurst For Dec. 12 Matchup

Syracuse and Mercyhurst will meet for the second year in a row when they play on Saturday, Dec. 12, at the JMA Wireless Dome.
The Syracuse-Mercyhurst Series:
     Former Syracuse standout Gerry McNamara enters his initial year at the helm of his alma mater. McNamara spent the last two seasons in charge at Siena, where he led the Saints to the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
     The Orange have two returning regulars, sophomores Kiyan Anthony (8.0 ppg., 1.4 rpg.) and Sadiq White Jr. (6.1 ppg., 3.3 rpg.). A group of six incoming transfers includes Temple guard Aiden Tobiason (15.3 ppg., 3.7 rpg.), a junior, and guard Gavin Doty (18.0 ppg., 6.9 rpg.), a junior and 2025-26 MAAC First Team honoree at Siena.
Mercyhurst
     The Lakers were 17-17 overall and 10-8 in the Northeast Conference in 2025-26, the program's first in Division I. Mercyhurst won two games in the NEC Tournament before losing to Long Island in the title game, 79-70.
     Gary Manchel is in his 24th season as head coach at Mercyhurst. He's guided the Lakers to a 405-252 record during his tenure. Junior guard Jake Lemelman (13.9 ppg., 2.5 rpg.), who started all 34 contests a season ago, is the top returning veteran for Mercyhurst. Manchel brought in four transfers, including former Le Moyne swingman Tennessee Rainwater (9.8 ppg., 4.3 rpg.).
