
Belbey Hired As Men's Basketball Producer/Videographer

Former Syracuse men's basketball player Shaun Belbey '19, M '20, who worked most recently with the Long Island Nets in the G-League as head video coordinator, has been hired as men's basketball producer/videographer at his alma mater. Belbey joins the staff of first-year head coach Gerry McNamara.

SYRACUSE PRODUCER/VIDEOGRAPHER
At Syracuse, Belbey will serve as the primary video source for the men's basketball program. His responsibilities will include recording and breaking down games, opponents and practice video for the coaching staff. Belbey will manage the program's video library as well as maintain the related database and archiving material. He will also help produce recruiting videos.

FIRST STAY IN SYRACUSE
Belbey enrolled at Syracuse in 2015 and was a walk-on with the men's basketball team. He eventually earned a scholarship and spent five seasons with the program. He saw action in 18 games. Belbey excelled academically, earning All-ACC Academic Honor Roll in 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2019-20. He was named to the Syracuse Athletic Director's Honor Roll in five different semesters.

A START IN PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
While working toward his degrees, he served as an intern at Pure Sweat Basketball from 2015 to 2021 for NBA Skills Trainers Drew Hanlen and Alex Bazzell. Belbey helped plan and administer customized workouts for clients, including NBA standouts Jayson Tatum and Joel Embiid.

BOEHEIM'S ARMY AND TBT
Belbey got involved in The Basketball Tournament (TBT) in 2020, first as an assistant coach and then as general manager for Boeheim's Army. The group won the TBT title in 2021 and will compete again in this summer's event.

WORKING OVERTIME ELITE
Following a five-month stint at the beginning of 2022 as video coordinator for the Syracuse women's basketball program, he was hired by Overtime Elite, a nine-team basketball league for 16-to-20-year-olds based in Atlanta. He went on to a two-year tenure in player development and as a video coordinator and assistant coach. Belbey was an assistant coach for former Division I head coaches Kevin Ollie and Dave Leitao with the City Reapers. The team captured the 2023 OTE Championship.

JOINING THE G-LEAGUE
Belbey was named a coaching associate with the Texas Legends, the G-League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks in September 2024. He handled several duties, including video editing, on-court workouts and opponent scouting. He assisted the Mavericks in 2025 pre-draft and summer workouts and was a member of the team's NBA Summer League coaching staff.

He was selected as the head video coordinator of the Long Island Nets, the G-League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, in September 2025. In his one season with the organization, Belbey directed all video operations, managed opponent scout games and personnel breakdowns, and organized practice plans for Coach Mfon Udofia.
