Martinez Commits To 'Cuse Basketball

Iker Martinez, a 7-0 center from Mexico, has accepted a written offer of athletic aid at Syracuse, according to Coach Gerry McNamara.

Martinez was previously enrolled at Arizona Compass Prep in Chandler, Ariz., where he played for Coach Peter Kaffey. He then moved on to Elev8 Academy and Coach Cory DeSanti. In 2025-26 he averaged 19.8 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. Martinez was nominated for McDonald's All-American recognition.

Martinez owns international experience with the Mexico U17 National Team. He competed in the 2023 CentroBasket Tournament. Mexico was 2-3 and finished fourth.

He played AAU basketball for the California Stars.
