
Top Ten Game Slated for Saturday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After a setback for the first time in a month, Syracuse University men's lacrosse slipped in the polls this weekend, but have another top-10 clash on deck this weekend at the Dome.
Syracuse (9-3, 1-1 ACC) fell 14-9 on Saturday on the road at then-second ranked North Carolina, which moved up to the top spot in both polls this week. The three losses for the Orange this season were all on the road at teams currently ranked inside the top six of the polls.
The Orange remained in the top five of the USILA Division I Coaches Poll with 485 points, enough for fifth this week. North Carolina moved up one spot to number one with 613 points and 26 first-place votes. Notre Dame was second with 581 points and four top selections while Princeton was 20 points adrift with 561 and the final first-place vote. Richmond slid to fourth with 509 points.
Syracuse moved just outside the top five in the Inside Lacrosse Division I Media Poll this week, picking up 338 points for sixth, sliding back three spots. North Carolina moved into first place with 438 points and 20 first-place votes. Notre Dame was second with 410 points and the remaining two first-place votes. Princeton was third with 388 points with Richmond close behind with 370 points. Harvard rounded out the top five with 345 points.
Boasting the fourth-best RPI in the country through the weekend, fourteen of the 15 regular season opponents for the Orange were mentioned in this week's USILA Coaches Poll: No. 1 North Carolina, No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 3 Princeton, No. 6 Harvard, No. 9 Maryland, No. 10 Johns Hopkins, No. 11 Duke, No. 12 Georgetown, No. 13 Virginia, No. 18 Penn, with Denver, Colgate, Boston University, and Saint Joseph's all receiving votes.

It's Ring of Honor weekend at the JMA Wireless Dome as legendary head coach John Desko has his name enshrined in the Dome among the greats of Syracuse Athletics. The Ring of Honor ceremony will take place at halftime of the Syracuse vs. Virginia men's lacrosse game.
