The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the 2025-26 All-ACC Women's Basketball Academic Team on Tuesday, and Syracuse University placed five student-athletes on the honor roll, the program announced.
Sophie Burrows, Shy Hawkins, Maddy Potts, Olivia Schmitt and Angelica Velez each earned recognition after meeting the ACC's academic criteria, which requires an undergraduate student-athlete to have been enrolled at their institution for at least one academic year, earned a cumulative GPA of 3.00 with a 3.00 GPA in the two most recent semesters, and competed in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.
Burrows, a junior guard majoring in Psychology, earned the distinction for the third time after being named the Kay Yow ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year earlier this season. Hawkins, Potts and Schmitt each earned the honor for the second consecutive year. Hawkins, a sophomore wing, is currently undeclared in her major, while Potts, a sophomore guard, is pursuing a degree in Communication Rhetorical Studies and Schmitt, a sophomore guard, is majoring in Advertising in Syracuse's S.I. Newhouse School of Communiciations.Velez, a junior guard majoring in Communication Rhetorical Studies, earned All-ACC Academic recognition for the first time.
Syracuse's five honorees represent a strong cross-section of the Orange roster and reflect the program's commitment to excellence both on the court and in the classroom.
