Syracuse women's basketball video coordinator and player development coach Caleb Samson has been named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 30 Under 30 Watchlist, the organization announced Tuesday, March 24.The 30 Under 30 recognition honors young professionals making a significant impact in women's basketball, and Samson has done exactly that since joining the Orange program prior to the 2025-26 season.
In his role with Syracuse, Samson balances the technical demands of video coordination with hands-on skill development, working primarily with the program's guards. His ability to break down film, identify areas for growth and translate that analysis into on-court improvement has drawn praise for reflecting a basketball IQ well beyond his years.
Samson also oversees a student analytics staff of 11 individuals who are present at practices and games throughout the season. Under his direction, the group analyzes individual and team performances, providing the coaching staff with insights to make informed decisions. His mentorship has elevated the skills and professionalism of his staff to the point where several members have become strong candidates for positions with NBA and WNBA organizations.
Beyond his basketball acumen, Samson has built a culture of trust and accountability with Syracuse's student-athletes, investing in their development both on and off the court. His positive energy and commitment to excellence set the standard for those around him daily.
Samson helped guide the Orange to a 24-9 season and a second round appearance in the 2026 NCAA Tournament. The Orange doubled their total wins and ACC wins (12-6) from a season ago in his first season on The Hill.Â
