Syracuse took the short drive down the New York State Thruway for its second exhibition contest this year and defeated Siena 81-76 on Sunday in front of nearly 9,000 fans.

Head Coach Gerry McNamara and three players (Gavin Doty, Francis Folefac and Tasman Goodrick) returned to MVP Arena in Albany, N.Y. – their home court last season, for the raising of the 2026 MAAC (now Metro) Championship banner as part of the festivities.

How the Game Was Decided
An 18-4 run out of halftime took a one-point deficit to a 13-point advantage for Syracuse, giving 'Cuse a lead it wouldn't relinquish.

Garwey Dual (7) and Mark Morano (5) led the scoring run.

Ratcheting up the Defense After Halftime
After Siena shot over 45-percent from the field in the opening frame, Syracuse tightened up the defense in the second half, keeping Siena to just 33-percent shooting and 4-of-17 (23-percent) from behind the arc.

Siena made a push to pull within one point late in the second half, but Syracuse closed the game with success at the free throw line. Syracuse went 18-of-24 from the stripe in the game, including 11-of-13 in the second half.

Syracuse also forced the Saints into 18 turnovers in the contest.

Hot from Deep
Syracuse made 11 3-pointers in the contest, a vast improvement from its 4-of-19 performance against UConn.

Morano didn't play in the exhibition opener and spent Sunday as Syracuse's best option from behind the arc, shooting 4-of-6 from long range. Gavin Doty and Ryan Moesch each made three triples apiece.

Doty Delivers
Making his return to where he started his career, Doty led all scorers with 20 points. He also tied for the team lead with eight boards – including four offensive rebounds - and dished out two assists.

Welcome to the Orange, Mark
After missing Tuesday's game, Morano made his presence felt on Sunday. He notched 18 points while suiting up in Orange for the first time. He was an effective 6-of-9 from the field, in addition to his four 3-pointers.

Notable Numbers:

Syracuse played 10 players, continuing frequent rotations during the exhibitions.
8,604 fans were in attendance.
Syracuse's bench outscored Siena's 29-4.

Syracuse concludes its exhibition slate on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 3 p.m. against Niagara at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo. The Orange will open regular season play on Monday, Nov. 2 against New Haven in the JMA Wireless Dome.
