The Syracuse football team was honored by The Salvation Army of Syracuse for their efforts in the community.
The football program was honored with the Spirit of Service Award at the organization's 55th annual Civic Celebration on Wednesday at the OnCenter. Orange legend Donovan McNabb was the guest speaker.
Head Coach Fran Brown has made it a key priority in his tenure for members of the program to engage and support the local community through volunteerism. The team logs thousands of community service hours each year across numerous local organizations – including the Salvation Army.
Other community service initiatives have included working with local schools for literacy events, volunteering at the Boys & Girls Club, Bishop Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Clear Path for Veterans, YMCA, MoST Museum, Syracuse Parks and Recreation, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, hosting The Beautiful Lives Project and more.
Syracuse returns home for the first time in 35 days on Saturday, hosting Louisville in a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. Tickets are available at Cuse.com/FootballTickets.
