
Orange Set for Home-and-Home with Colgate

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University Volleyball team (6-0, 0-0 ACC) will continue its schedule of in-state foes this weekend when it takes on Colgate in a home-and-home series this weekend. Five of the Orange's six matches thus far have come against New York institutions and add Colgate to the list this weekend.
Colgate will serve as a formidable test for the Orange, having reached the NCAA Tournament a year ago. The Raiders have been a force in the Patriot League and won the conference in four consecutive seasons.
The series will start on Friday evening in Hamilton, New York on the Raiders' home court before the two programs return to Syracuse to finish the bout on Saturday night. The tilts will mark the 64th and 65th all-time meetings between the two programs.

HOME-AND-HOME WITH THE RAIDERS
- Two teams from Upstate New York will meet twice in as many days this weekend as Colgate and Syracuse continue their longstanding series this weekend.
- The weekend will start with a match at Colgate on Friday evening before the teams return to Syracuse to finish the home-and-home bout on Saturday.
NEW NAMES, BIG IMPACTS
- Head Coach Bakeer Ganesharatnam and his staff brought in 10 new student athletes to round out the 2025 roster.
- The coaching staff brought in seven student athletes with collegiate volleyball experience under their belt, including three who played in the Mountain West Conference, and two with experience competing in The Big West Conference.
- Through six matches, newcomers Gabby McLaughlin leads all Syracuse players in kills (80), Tehya Maeva leads in assists (168), and Rana Yamada leads the way in aces (10) and digs (76).
GABBY GETS IT DONE
- One of the Orange's newest additions, Gabby McLaughlin, has been absolutely dominant in the start to her Syracuse career.
- McLaughlin leads the Orange in kills with 80 through six matches and has been named the MVP in both tournaments Syracuse has taken part in this season.
- The California native got her career started with four-consecutive double-doubles, all coming via the kill and the dig.
THE SKY IS THE LIMIT
- Skylar George has started four consecutive matches for the Orange and has been a force to be reckoned with at outside hitter.
- George led all Syracuse players in the UAlbany Invitational with 42 kills and a .264 hitting percentage.
THE REMARKABLE RANA
- After spending the past few seasons competing at the Junior College level, Rana Yamada has proven why the Syracuse coaching staff has put so much faith in her as the team's starting libero.
- Yamada has anchored the defense, leading the way with 76 digs.
SCOUTING COLGATE
- This marks the 64th all-time meeting between the two programs from upstate New York.
- The Orange lead the series, 48-13-2, dating back to the 1973 season.
- The Orange won the first meeting in 1973, 2-0.
- From 1995 to 2012, the Orange won 22 consecutive matches against the Raiders.
- Colgate won the most recent matchup between the two programs in 2023.
- The Raiders have been a force in the Patriot League for nearly half a decade, winning four-straight Patriot League titles.
- Head Coach Ryan Baker has piloted the Raiders to five Patriot League titles and is a five-time Patriot League Coach of the Year.
