
Syracuse Receives Commit From Diawara

Tiefing Diawara (CHEFF-ing D-I-warr-a), a 7-0 center from Mopti, Mali, has committed to enroll and play basketball at Syracuse, starting in 2025, according to the University.
Diawara spent the last year at DME Academy at St. John's Northwestern, where he was coached by Ben Wisniewski. He participated in the 2024 Basketball Without Borders Global Camp in Indianapolis prior to coming to the United States to enroll in high school. During the 2024 summer, he competed with Team Hero on the Nike EYBL Circuit. Diawara was a member of the Under 17 squad and averaged 4.5 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks over 11 contests.

He participated in the 2024 Adidas Next Generation Tournament for NGT Paris. Diawara averaged 4.8 points and 2.5 rebounds while helping NGT Paris produce a 4-0 record in the event.

Diawara played for four seasons in Italy for Club Orange 1 Bassano.

Diawara is the fifth freshman in the Class of 2025 to become part of the Orange, joining Kiyan Anthony (Brooklyn, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran), Luke Fennell (Melbourne, Australia/ South East Melbourne), Aaron Womack (Milwaukee, Wisc./Dominican) and Sadiq White (Charlotte, N.C./IMG Academy).
