Running back Will Nixon, who missed the last 10 games of the 2024 season after suffering a Lisfranc injury, is a member of the Comeback Player of the Year Watch List, which was announced on Tuesday.
Nixon appeared in three games last season after transferring from Washington. The running back had 19 carries for 76 yards and four catches for 44 yards in his debut season with the Orange. He and sophomore Yasin Willis are expected to carry the load in 2025, following the departure of LeQuint Allen Jr. to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Nixon has a multitude of playing experience, appearing in 32 collegiate games and rushing for 366 yards and three touchdowns. He also has 25 catches for 199 yards. A member of the Washington team that reached the National Championship game in 2023, Nixon began his collegiate career at Nebraska, where he spent the 2020 and 2021 campaigns.
Syracuse begins the 2025 season in the Aflac Kickoff game in Atlanta vs. Tennessee. Tickets are still available at Cuse.com/AflacKickoff. The Orange will play back-to-back home games following the season opener in Atlanta. Tickets for all games in the JMA Wireless Dome are on sale now at Cuse.com/FootballTickets!
