Demetres Samuel Jr., who will play on both sides of the ball this season for the Syracuse football team, has been tabbed as one of ESPN's top-10 freshmen for the 2025 season.
Samuel, who reclassified from the class of 2026 to the class of 2025, enrolled early at just 16 years old in January. He will spend the entire 2025 campaign at age 17 and play both cornerback and wide receiver.
ESPN's Billy Tucker tabbed Samuel as the No. 8 freshman in the FBS on his list, where he ranks second in the ACC behind Clemson running back Gideon Davidson – who Tucker slotted at No. 3.
Samuel is the second-youngest player in college football this season, behind Auburn center Kail Ellis, who checks in 27 days younger than Samuel, but did not enroll early for spring ball and arrived on campus this summer.
