Syracuse men's basketball assistant coach Brenden Straughn is participating in the Jay Bilas Coaches Leadership Program this week.
The Coaches Leadership Program is designed for current Division I assistant coaches who aspire to be head coaches at the collegiate level. Coaches must have a minimum of five years experience as a Division I assistant in order to earn an invitation to the Bilas Camp.
The Program includes classroom teaching sessions as well as personalized meetings designed to "help coaches develop a philosophy on and off the court, learn how to interview, and established the confidence and skills needed to land a head coaching job."
Straughn is entering his third season as an assistant coach on Adrian Autry's staff at Syracuse. He also served college assistant-coach tenures at Loyola Maryland, Saint Joseph's and George Washington. Straughn began his coaching career as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Eleanor Roosevelt High School (Md.), and on the AAU Circuit with Team Takeover.
