Uche Izoje Named ACC Rookie of the Week

Syracuse women's basketball's Uche Izoje was named ACC Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon. It is the first ACC Rookie of the Week award for Syracuse's Uche Izoje and the first Syracuse freshman to earn the nod since 2023.Â
Izoje tallied 20 points, nine rebounds and seven blocks in Sunday afternoon's contest to lead the Orange past Howard 78-62. The center tabbed a career-high in scoring, blocks and steals (2) against the Bison.Â
She is the only player in the ACC to record seven blocks in a game this season and the first freshman to tally 20 points, 9 rebounds and seven blocks in a game since Bellarmine's Gracie Merkle in 2022. Â
Syracuse will host Auburn on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. as part of the ACC/SEC Challenge before hitting the road for its first ACC contest at SMU on December 7. Tickets for Wednesday's game are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting  cuse.com/basketballtickets. Â
