'Cuse to Face #4 NC State in Last Regular Season Match

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Syracuse men's soccer team will close out its regular season against No.4 NC State on Friday Oct. 31. The match will be streamed on ACC Network Extra and will kick off at 6 p.m. at Dail Soccer Stadium in Raleigh, North Carolina.

'Cuse Update
Last time on the pitch, The Orange upset No.22 ranked North Carolina 1-0 at home on Senior Day.

Freshman Landon Darko recorded his third goal of the season and third game-winning goal of his career in Saturday's victory. Carlos Zambrano dribbled the ball down the field and found Darko through the block of defenders, who took the kick to net the ball.

Graduate Student goalkeeper Tomas Hut tallied a new career high of eight saves against the Tar Heels. Hut collected his 100^th save with the Orange and his eighth shutout of the year as well.

The Orange now hold a 4-3-2 record at home and a 7-6-2 (4-3-0) record overall and stand in sixth place in the conference.

Scouting the Wolfpack
NC State took down No.19 Duke on Oct.25 in a 2-0 match. Striking early, senior Justin McLean scored the first goal with an assist from Riley Moloney in the 6th minute of play. Senior Taig Healy followed in the 68th minute to extend the lead over the Blue Devils.

Wolfpack goalkeeper Logan Erb has only allowed three goals through 15 games. The senior leads the nation with 12 shutouts this season. He also has tallied 33 saves. Donavan Phillip, a forward, leads NC State offensively with 31 points this season. The junior has 15 goals and one assist this season.

NC State has remained ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Poll throughout the entire season. The Wolfpack stand in 4th place. NC State was projected to finish in eighth place in the conference according to the ACC preseason poll. They currently stand in third place with 14 points and a 4-1-2 conference record.

In 2024, NC State finished its season with a 10-5-5 record and in ninth place in the ACC with a 3-3-2 record. NC State took a first-round exit in the 2024 ACC Tournament, falling to Virginia 2-1, but still received a bid to the NCAA tournament. The Wolfpack's season ultimately ended in the Sweet Sixteen round of the NCAA Championship after a 2-1 loss to Marshall.

Series History

This match marks the 15th meeting between the two teams. Syracuse leads the series 6-3-5.
The last time the two teams faced off, the Orange defeated the Wolfpack in the first round of the ACC Championship 5-0 in Syracuse on Nov. 1, 2023.
Syracuse is 3-3-0 on the road, while NC State is 7-1-2 at home.

Following Friday night's contest, the Orange will begin postseason play in the first round of the ACC Tournament on Wednesday Nov. 5.
