Orange Host Daemen for Preseason Exhibition Tuesday

The Syracuse Orange women's basketball team will kick off its season with an exhibition game Tuesday night when SU hosts Daemen on Oct. 28 at the JMA Wireless Dome. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Fans unable to attend can stream the game on ACCNX.Â
Head coach Felisha Legette-Jack's squad features a significantly reconstructed roster heading into the 2025-26 season, highlighted by SU's only returning starter from last year Sophie Burrows. The Australia native emerged as a consistent scoring threat last season, averaging 12.2 points per game as a sophomore and will be a focal point of Syracuse's offensive attack. Legette-Jack added four transfers in two-time All-Big Ten guard Laila Phelia who joined the Orange after spending last season on Texas' Final Four squad. Dominique Darius, Aurora Almon and Oyindamola Akinbolawa make up the remaining transfer additions. Syracuse added four freshman to the roster as well in Jasmyn Cooper, Camdyn Nelson, Uche Izoje and Justus Fitzgerald.Â
The exhibition matchup against the Wildcats, provides an opportunity for the revamped Syracuse roster to gain valuable game experience before ACC play begins. It marks the second-straight year Syracuse hosts Daemen in a preseason exhibition game at the Dome. In the 2024 edition, 'Cuse defeated the Wildcats 90-50 on Oct. 29 at the Dome. Now sophomores Keira Scott and Shy Hawkins each had 16 points in their Dome debuts to lead the team in scoring.Â
