Orange and Mets Team Up for Women in Sports Night Thursday

Three Syracuse University head coaches will throw out ceremonial first pitches at Thursday's Syracuse Mets game to kick off Women in Sports Night at NBT Bank Stadium.  Ice hockey coach Britni Smith, field hockey coach Lynn Farquhar and volleyball coach Bakeer Ganesharatnam will take the mound to kick of Women in Sports Night as the Mets take on the Durham Bulls at 6:35 pm.
In addition to the first pitches, the field hockey, ice hockey and volleyball teams will be in attendance to engage with fans on the main concourse. The Syracuse cheer and dance teams will do a meet and greet with Otto the Orange.
All fans are encouraged to meet the 'Cuse coaches on the concourse at Section 211 during the game.
The Syracuse field hockey team has an exhibition game against Rutgers on Saturday at Noon and will host their first regular season home game on Sunday, September 8 against Ohio State at noon.
The Volleyball season opener is set for Friday, Aug. 30 vs. NJIT for the first game of the Salt City classic at 11 a.m. om the Women's Building Gymnasium and Smith and the Orange play their first home series against Stonehill on October 4 and 5 at Tennity Ice Pavilion on Syracuse's campus.
