Julius Rauch is among the 12 seniors named as the 2024 Syracuse University Scholars, the highest undergraduate honor the University bestows. Since 1983, 18 student-athletes earned the distinction as University Scholars.
Â
Rauch joins Hendrik Hilpert (2019) as members of the men's soccer team to earn the prestigious award. Rauch will graduate in May with a bachelor's degree in finance and entrepreneurship and emerging enterprises from the Martin J. Whitman School of Management.
Â
Rauch, a finance and entrepreneurship and emerging enterprises major, earned the Elite 90 Award, presented to the student-athlete with the highest grade point average at the 2022 NCAA College Cup. The Dusseldorf, Germany, native was also a College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honoree last season. On the pitch, Rauch logged 40 career matches, tallying four goals in 748 minutes with the Orange. During the team's National Championship season, the striker converted in the sixth round of penalty kicks in the NCAA title game against Indiana, extending play that eventually led to Amferny Sinclair's championship-clinching strike in the eighth round.
Â
Rauch most recently spent time with Deloitte Consulting in the firm's apprenticeship program where he secured first place in the Beyond Meat Case Study Competition that included over 70 selected participants and more than 200 initial applicants. Rauch then joined Houlihan Lokey as an investment banking summer analyst in Zurich, Switzerland.
Â
The Syracuse University Scholars Selection Committee, a University-wide faculty committee, selected the 2024 scholars using criteria that included coursework and academic achievement, independent research and creative work, evidence of intellectual growth and/or innovation in their disciplinary field, a personal statement and faculty letters of recommendation.
