PITTSBURGH, PA. – Syracuse lost, 8-3, Friday evening in the opening game against Pittsburgh at Vartabedian Field.

The Panthers scored six unanswered runs across the fifth and sixth innings.

Senior Angel Jasso went 4-for-4, scoring a pair of runs in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST PITT:Â
Syracuse and Pitt traded runs in the third inning, with junior Taylor Posner singling in Jasso for the game's first run.
Â
Trailing 2-1 heading into the fifth, the Orange took a 3-2 advantage. Jasso scored her second run of the ballgame on a throwing error before junior Laila Morales-Alves singled to the left-center gap to plate Posner.

The Panthers responded with a two-run single off the bat of Amanda Ramirez in the home half of the frame and never looked back. Cami Compson capped off the team's four-run sixth with a three-run homer to dead center.

Sophomore Madison Knight tossed four innings in the no-decision, striking out a pair of batters.

- Jasso recorded her second career four-hit game. The senior previously achieved the mark on Feb. 11, 2022, vs. Southern.
- Jasso's 17 multi-hit games in 2024 are tied with Tanya Rose (2005) for the third-most by a senior in program history.
- Jasso's 174 career hits are tied with Corinne Ozanne (2013-16) for the 10th-most in program history.
- Jasso also stole her 50th career base, the sixth Syracuse player to achieve the mark.
