Gilstrap, Slim Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – David Gilstrap of the men's track team and Isabella Slim of the women's basketball team are this week's Syracuse Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
Gilstrap is a junior majoring in health and exercise science in the School of Education.
A native of Atlanta, Ga., Gilstrap and the men's track team are currently competing indoors. Members of the team will compete at the Harvard Crimson Elite on Feb. 3 then the U.S. Junior Cross Country Championships and the Scarlet and White hosted by Boston University on Feb. 4.
Gilstrap has first and second places finished in the 60-meter hurdles this season. He finished first at the Ramapo Opener on Jan. 13 and came in second to teammate Freddie Crittenden at the Villanova Open on Feb. 27.
Slim is a senior economics major in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management.
A native of Amsterdam, Netherlands, Slim and the women's basketball team are 15-7 overall this season with a 6-3 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference play. The Orange host Pittsburgh on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. and will travel to Boston College on Sunday, Feb. 5.
Slim currently ranks fourth in program history with 125 starts in her collegiate career. The senior has started in all 22 games this season and is averaging 5.0 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game this season.
