SYRACUSE, N.Y.-Â Juniors Adam Palamar of the men's track and field team and Briana Day of the women's basketball team are this week's Orange Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
Palamar majors in biology in the College of Arts and Sciences. Palamar recently put up a sub-four minute mile at the Iowa State Classic, helping his team move up to No. 11 in the latest USTFCCA poll. Palamar's time of 3:58.55 ranks 18th nationally. The junior is joined by teammates Justyn Knight and Joel Hubbard also breaking the four-minute mile, which has the three Orange runners becoming the first in program history to accomplish this feat.Â
Day majors in public health in the Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. As a junior, Day recently moved into 10th all-time in program history with 723 total rebounds. Day is averaging 11 points and just over eight rebounds per game this season. She recently became the third player in program history alongside Kayla Alexander and Martha Mogish to haul in at least 700 rebounds and have more than 150 blocks. Day recorded double-doubles in each of the last two Syracuse wins, as the Orange reside in fourth place in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a 20-6 (10-3 ACC) record.Â
Palamar and Syracuse continues action at the Marc Denault Invitational, hosted by Cornell this weekend before contending in the ACC Championships the following week.
Day and the Orange are back home on Thursday when the team takes on Florida State in the Carrier Dome at 7 p.m. Tickets can be accessed here.Â
