SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University volleyball team (9-4) welcomes the University of South Florida (4-8) to the Women's Building on Friday night as the Orange and Bulls kick off BIG EAST play. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
SU and USF are tops in the league for blocks per set. SU is leading the nation in that category, averaging 3.22 per set, while the Bulls average 2.75 per set.
Syracuse trails in the all-time series with the Bulls 5-4. The two teams have split the last six matches evenly since South Florida joined BIG EAST in 2005. Last year in Tampa, the Bulls ended SU's 17-match unbeaten streak in five sets (25-22, 17-25, 25-12, 22-25, 15-6). Noemie Lefebvre led the team with a double-double of 18 kills and 14 digs.
The Bulls are led offensively by Valerie El Houssine and J'beria Davis who lead USF in kills with 129 and 114, respectively.
The Orange then jumps back out of conference on Sunday as SU travels to Niagara to face the Purple Eagles (7-7) at 2 p.m. Syracuse has never lost to Niagara in 14 contests.
Niagara's Hannah Hendrick leads the MAAC in kills with 183 and averages 3.89 kills per set. She also has the second most digs on the team with 143.
