Syracuse Ends Preseason with 3-0 Victory at Le Moyne

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse men's soccer team ended exhibition play on Monday, Aug. 22 with a 3-0 win against Le Moyne at the Athletic Turf Complex. Senior Dan Summers led the Orange with two goals for the second straight game. Senior Federico Agreda added a late goal in the victory.
The format for the scrimmage was three 30-minute periods with a five-minute break between sessions.
After a scoreless first period, Syracuse took control in the second stanza on back-to-back goals by Summers. In the 55th minute, Summers collected a pass from senior Nick Roydhouse and put the ball past the outstretched arms of the Le Moyne goalkeeper. Two minutes later, Summers headed home cross from junior Ted Cribley to give SU a 2-0 lead.
Agreda tallied the game's final goal in the 80th minute. He collected a through ball from sophomore Robbie Hughes and chipped it over the goalkeeper to secure the victory.
Senior Phil Boerger and redshirt junior Ryan Jones combined for the clean sheet, their second in as many games. Boerger played the first 60 minutes and Jones finished up.
The Orange opens the 2011 regular season on Saturday, Aug. 27 when it travels to Hamilton, N.Y. for a match against Central New York rival Colgate. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Van Doren Field.
