Orange Volleyball Comes From Behind To Defeat Army, 3-2

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange volleyball team came back to win a hard-fought five-game match with Army, 3-2, on Saturday, Sept. 4 at the Army Open.
After falling behind by two games, 30-28 and 33-31, Syracuse was able to turn the momentum in its favor and win the final three games for the victory, 30-25, 30-16 and 15-8.
Two student-athletes recorded double-doubles. Junior Kristen Conway led the attack for the Orange with 22 attacks and 11 blocks. Conway also tied her career-high with two solo blocks. Junior Kelly Duan made 12 kills and 20 digs, tying her career-high in digs. Duan led the team with four service aces.
Juniors Aila Dommestrup and Kathryn Dercher each had 29 assists, three kills and six digs. Freshman Joscie Kaup led the Orange defense with 29 digs and recorded three service aces.
Eileen Cassidy and Caitlin Machon recorded double-doubles for Army. Cassidy recorded 11 kills and 12 digs along with 14 assists and five service aces. Machon led the team in kills with 20 and made 11 digs.
The Orange concludes tournament action at the Army Open at 2:00 p.m. when SU plays Fairleigh Dickinson.
