SU Volleyball Suffers First Loss of the Season

Denver, Colo. - The Syracuse volleyball team lost its first match of the season at the Denver Tournament, 3-0, to Denver (3-5) on Friday.
Syracuse (9-1) was within eight points of Denver in every game, but couldn't get the win against the Pioneers. SU was closest in the third game, 30-28, and lost the first two games, 30-22 and 30-26.
Junior Kristen Conway led the team with nine kills and had nine digs. Senior Morgan Jones moves into eighth place on SU’s all-time kills list with 876 kills after having eight kills in the match tonight. Junior Aila Dommestrup recorded 35 assists, while freshman Jen Malcom was Syracuse’s leading blocker with six total blocks, two solo blocks and four block assists. Freshman Joscie Kaup led the SU defense with 11 digs.
Kristin Halt and Shannon Parker recorded double-doubles for the Pioneers. Halt with 12 kills on 31 attempts and 14 digs, and Parker had 40 assists and 10 digs. Amanda Millard had 14 kills on 23 attempts for a .522 hitting percentage. Sarah Adamis led Denver with 15 digs.
The Orange is back on the court Sat., Sept. 18 at 1:00 p.m. EDT against Washington State, and plays its final game of the tournament against Radford at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
