SU Defeats New Hampshire In Big Orange Tournament Finale

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Juniors Kristen Conway, Aila Dommestrup and Kelly Duan each recorded double-doubles to lead the Orange volleyball team against New Hampshire, 3-1, in the final match of the Big Orange Tournament. SU won the match 30-28, 30-27, 25-30 and 30-22. The Orange remains undefeated at 8-0 while New Hampshire slips below .500 at 3-4.
Conway posted 16 kills on 47 attempts and 13 digs, while Dommestrup recorded 47 assists and 11 digs. Duan had 19 kills and made 13 digs.
Freshman Joscie Kaup had 13 digs, and freshman Ellen Bruegge made seven block assists. Senior Morgan Jones had 13 kills and five block assists.
For the Wildcats, Katie Weidner had 42 assists. Karen Harrington led the attack with nine kills, and Jen Williams had a team-high five service aces.
At 2:00 p.m., New Hampshire took on Manhattan. The Wildcats defeated the Jaspers in three games, 30-26, 31-29, and 30-24. Sarah Rehn of New Hampshire posted a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs, and Katie Weidner posted a double-double had 40 assists and 10 digs.
For Manhattan, Maggie Pfeifer recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs. Lori Bambauer set up the Jasper attack with 29 assists, and Ashley Davis made 14 digs.
Other action this afternoon had Cleveland State defeating Siena, 3-0. The Vikings won with games of 30-25, 30-14 and 30-17. Jamie Bouyer led the attack with 14 kills, and Kelly Crain posted 42 assists. Emily Clark had a team-high 10 digs.
For the Saints, Christie Gustafson recorded 13 digs, and Jessica Hackett posted 12 assists. Nadiege Honore led the team with eight kills on 21 attempts.
