Volleyball Sweeps Villanova

VILLANOVA, PA. - The Orange volleyball team used its superior attack and strong play at the net to sweep Villanova, 3-0, Saturday, Oct. 30 at Nevin Field House. Syracuse (21-5, 4-1 BIG EAST) won its eighth-straight match as it defeated the Wildcats (7-15, 1-5 BIG EAST) by scores of 30-19, 30-25 and 30-23.
The Orange hit .356 in the first game to set the tone for the match, and wound up hitting .266 for the match, and recording 12.0 team blocks.

Senior Morgan Jones led Syracuse with a .389 hitting percentage and 16 kills, while juniors Kelly Duan and Kristen Conway each recorded double-doubles. Duan added 14 kills, 20 digs and six blocks, while Conway had 12 kills and 11 digs. Junior Aila Dommestrup totaled 47 assists to go along with five kills and seven digs, and freshman Jen Malcom notched a team-high eight blocks.
Dana Kabashima paced Villanova with 11 kills and 19 digs, while Kacy Sellers and Adrian Semrau contributed 10 kills apiece. Celine Nguyen had a team-high 22 digs.
Syracuse has its final regular-season road match against Georgetown on Sunday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m.
