Terps Hand Orangewomen First Loss of Season

HARRISONBURG, VA - The Orangewomen lost their first match of the season to Maryland in opening action of the JMU/Days Inn Classic on Friday morning. The Terps (4-0) remained undefeated with their 3-0 victory against Syracuse.
Freshman Kristen Conway (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) led the offense with eight kills, and senior Abby Van Mater (West Chester, PA/Unionville) followed with six. Junior Michaela Skelly (Simi Valley, CA/Royal) distributed 19 assists and recorded seven digs.
Maryland hit for a combined .345 hitting percentage, while holding SU to .000 on the attack. Carey Brennan and Lynnsy Jones led the Terps with 16 and 14 kills, respectively.
Syracuse returns to action at 7 p.m. when it faces host James Madison.
