HARRISONBURG, VA - Freshman Kristen Conway (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) produced a match-high 10 kills and Syracuse hit .386 as a team in the Orangewomen’s 30-19, 30-20, 30-21 victory against Campbell in the JMU/Days Inn Classic on Saturday.
Syracuse improved to 5-1 overall, its best start since 1991’s 9-1 beginning, and to 2-1 in the tournament.
SU senior Abby Van Mater (West Chester, PA/Unionville) added nine kills to the attack, and sophomore Ashley Kimes (Overland Park, KA/Blue Valley North) contributed seven. Junior Michaela Skelly (Simi Valley, CA/Royal) tallied 33 assists on SU’s 43 kills.
Stephanie Lejbjuk and Crystal Brim each had nine kills for Campbell.
Syracuse returns home to host the Syracuse Invitational Tournament on Sept. 13-14.
