Five Fourth-Quarter Goals Gives SU 11-8 Victory Against Princeton

Princeton (1-3) jumped out to a 4-0 lead early in the game. Matt Trevennen put the Tigers up 4-0 with his second goal of the contest at the 12:35 mark of the second quarter.
The SU offense kicked into rhythm in the second quarter. Senior attackman Josh Coffman (Carthage, N.Y./Carthage) put the Orangemen on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal which he bounced in with 11:50 remaining in the first half. Junior midfielder Mike Smith (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) notched his first goal of the season off a pass from Coffman just 26 seconds later. Coffman pulled Syracuse to within one (4-3) with his second goal at the 8:29 mark. Senior midfielder Spencer Wright (San Diego, Calif./Junipero Serra) tied the game at 4-4 when he converted a feed from sophomore midfielder Sean Lindsay (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Lakeland-Panas) with 5:07 remaining in the second period.
Sophomore attackman Michael Powell (Carthage, N.Y./Carthage) gave the Orangemen their first lead of the game (5-4) by driving from the right side at the 13:01 mark of the third quarter. Trevennen tied the contest at 5-5 off a pass from Sean Hartofolis with 5:46 remaining in the third stanza. Owen Daly and Josh White each scored goals to push Princeton's lead back up to two goals (7-5) with 3:03 remaining. Powell found Wright, who was all alone at the point, for a 15-yard shot which found the upper right corner of the goal with 2:03 remaining in the third quarter.
Coffman tallied his third goal of the game at the 13:20 mark of the fourth quarter. It tied the game at 7-7. B.J. Prager, Princeton's potent creaseman, gave his team their final lead of the afternoon at the 11:36 mark.
SU senior midfielder Brian Solliday (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) registered the tying goal with a blast from the left side with 8:18 remaining in the contest. Freshman midfielder Jarett Park (Tully, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) helped SU win a faceoff by scooping up the groundball. He then sprinted to the Princeton goal, uncontested, and recorded his first collegiate goal, the game-winner, with 8:07 remaining. Solliday dished a short pass to Wright, who buried an extra-man shot at the 5:35 mark. Wright found a cutting Lindsay for an insurance goal at the 2:54 mark.
Junior midfielder Chris Bickel (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga)had a strong day at the face-off X for Syracuse. He won 14-of-22 draws, including five-straight to close out the fourth quarter, which aided SU's run.
Red-shirt freshman goaltender Jay Pfeifer (Towson, Md./Gilman) played the entire 60 minutes for Syracuse and finished with nine saves. Julian Gould played the entire game for Princeton and ended up with 14 saves.
Princeton set a stadium attendance record with 5,476 spectators at the game.
Syracuse improves to 5-1 on the season and will play its first home game since February 23, against Hobart on Wednesday, March 27, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
