
Volleyball Wins First BIG EAST Match Against Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - The Syracuse University women’s volleyball team won its first BIG EAST conference match of the season with a 3-2 victory against Seton Hall on Saturday afternoon in Walsh Gym.
SU won the first game, 30-24, behind a .417 attack percentage. Seton Hall (8-11, 0-1 BIG EAST) came back to win the next two games, 30-21 and 30-19, but the Orangewomen outhit the Pirates in the final two games to take the win.
For the second straight day, freshman Kristen Conway (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) recorded a career high to lead the Syracuse (12-6, 1-2 BIG EAST) offense. Conway posted 25 kills on 53 attempts with six errors for a .358 attack percentage. Freshman Aila Dommestrup (Ottawa, Ontario/Sir Robert Borden) dished out a personal-best 46 assists for the Orangewomen.
Sophomore Morgan Jones (Malad, ID/Malad) joined Conway in double figures with 12 kills. Junior co-captain Christen Casey (Long Beach, IN/Marquette) posted a match-high 20 digs, and freshman Kathryn Dercher (Weatherby Lake, MO/Park Hill) followed with 10.
Jenna Meyers led Seton Hall with 22 kills and 13 digs.
Syracuse returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 6 when it faces BIG EAST rival Rutgers in New Brunswick at 2 p.m.
