
Orangewomen Knock Off Pittsburgh, 3-0

SYRACUSE, NY - The Syracuse women’s volleyball team defeated Pittsburgh, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon in the Women’s Building.
The Orangewomen (17-9, 3-5 BIG EAST) combined for a. 236 hitting percentage, compared to Pittsburgh’s .136. Pittsburgh (15-7, 5-2 BIG EAST) was previously in a three-way tie for second place in the BIG EAST.
Sophomore Morgan Jones (Malad, ID/Malad) led the SU offense with 12 kills. Freshman Kelly Duan (Baotou City, China/Zhong Shan University) recorded 10 kills on 16 attacks with one error for a .562 attack percentage. She also collected eight digs. Freshman Kristen Conway (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) and Ashley Kimes (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley North) each posted nine kills in the win.
Junior co-captain Christen Casey (Long Beach, IN/Marquette) led the defense with 14 digs, while senior Abby Van Mater (West Chester, PA/Unionville) dominated at the net with five total blocks. Van Mater also recorded seven kills on 17 attempts with one error for a .353 attack percentage.
Gini Ullery, Megan Miller and Sarah Rollman each recorded 10 kills for Pittsburgh. Libero Megan McGrane posted a match-high 20 digs.
